Use of smart Library Card

You agree that the smart Library Card is the property of Ku-ring-gai Council and may be confiscated as a result of inappropriate use. Use of the Library card is subject to all terms, conditions, rules and regulations, which may change from time to time. Your card and related accounts are non-transferable; any misuse or illegal transactions can result in privilege suspension and/or possible judicial action. Except as provided below, you are responsible for the usage of your card.  Collection and use of personal data is in line with Ku-ring-gai Council Privacy Policy and is available at http://www.kmc.nsw.gov.au/Information_Pages/Online_Services_Terms_and_Conditions

Smart Library Card Accounts

The Monitor Card Account (operated via your smart  Library card) is an optional account of pre-deposited funds accessed by you for products and services with your smart Library card. Funds cannot be withdrawn from the card account at any time. Funds deposited to the Card Account shall be applied against amounts debited to your Card Account for goods and services purchased at points of sale. You understand and agree that the smart Library Card is not a credit card, nor can it be used to obtain cash or cash advances from the account under any circumstances. If your Library card account balance goes below zero as a result of the system or one of its readers being off-line, you remain responsible for payment of those purchases. Merchandise will be accepted for return where not fit for purpose according to the refund policy in force where the goods and/or services were purchased. Cash refunds will not be made for returned merchandise that was purchased with the Card. A credit will be made to your account.

Procedures for Lost, Stolen, or Replacement Cards

Report immediately any lost or stolen card, or unauthorised card usage to Ku-ring-gai Library during Library hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Alternatively, you may suspend activity to your smart Library card account through the My Monitor website. You are responsible for all usage of the card prior to proper notification to the smart Library card office or suspending your card online. There is a replacement fee for lost, stolen or damaged cards.

Closing Accounts, Refunds, Returns

Upon official withdrawal from the Library, the cardholder accounts will be closed and any balance will be refunded to you up to the maximum balance limit. The Library reserves the right to close any card account that has been inactive for a period of thirty-six (36) months. Refunds on accounts will be made at the full value of the unused balance up to the maximum balance limit. All debts on your Monitor Account must be satisfied prior to a refund being issued.

Documentation of Activity

You can request a receipt at the time of purchase if the point of sale terminal is equipped to provide a receipt. Some locations including copiers, printing stations and vending readers are not capable of providing receipts. The remaining balance in your Monitor Account is displayed at every point of sale terminal each time the account is accessed. The cashier, at any location accepting the smart  Library card, may be asked to verify an account balance. Occasionally the account balance is not available at a card reader. During these times, you can check your Monitor Account balances online at the My Monitor web site.

Error Resolution Procedures

If you feel a charge has been transacted on your Library card account which you did not authorise, you must notify the Library as soon as the non-authorised transaction is discovered. Include information on the date and amount of the transaction, as well as any other information you feel is necessary to help the staff investigate the claim.
